What If I fall? Oh, but my darling, What If You Fly?
There is freedom waiting for you, On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask, What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, What if you fly?
This is a deep quote. The question starts with fear but it is quickly answered with a thought-provoking response.
Fear has a way of causing us to questions our abilities. Fear has a way of keeping us stuck in our comfort zone.
There is a saying that goes something like you can not grow in your comfort zone. It is true. You can not.
Things will not change if you are constantly doing the same thing.
Even though we know this, it is always good to read words of encouragement.
There is nothing like a quote to give you a quick pep talk in the right direction. This quote by Erin Hanson does exactly that.
She allows you to acknowledge and feel the fear. She also gives you the option to not stay there. She encourages you to question it and push through.
Playing the what if I fall game creates overthinking and stagnation. There is not any movement or progression if you are constantly thinking of falling.
Erin challenges you to play the what if I fly game. The possibilities are endless. There is movement & progression.
We already know what happens in the what if I fall game.
The outcome never changes.
Nothing will happen.
Things will stay the same.
Here’s what can happen in the what if I fly game.
You will find the strength you didn’t know you had. You will go after what you want. You will research what you do not know.
You will participate in steps that will help you grow you as a person. These steps will help you evolve also.
In my life, each time I chose to push through fear, I grew as a person.
Each time I pushed through fear, I went through steps that gave me tools to apply to all areas of my life.
Each step I took was causing me to fight through the fear and excuses.
Each step I took inched me farther from the power of fear and excuses.
Each step I took inched me to a stronger person. Each step I took inched me a little closer to my goal.
The power of fear that was once there was no longer controlling my life. I kept my eye on the end and I was not stopping until I reached it.
Hey, life happens and sometimes we forget what we are capable of.
We forget how strong we are. We forget what we can do. I am guilty of this too.
That’s OK. Give yourself grace.
I hope this serves as a friendly reminder for you (it does for me) to remember who you are and what you are capable of.
Here’s the thing. We know what happens in the what if I fall game.
Nothing. Stagnation at its best.
In the what if I fly game, there are so many lessons and successes intertwined in it. The outcome could be great but you will never know unless you try.
If fear is trying to hold you back, think about what could happen if you go for it.
As Erin ended the quote “Oh, my darling, what if you fly?
Before I head out, quick deets on photos.
I was so excited to get a parasol umbrella. I have been wanting one since forever.
I love the vintage look it gives and the shade it provides when I am outside on a stroll or picnicking in the backyard.
Shading in Style, Okay. I found it here on Amazon. It is laced. I got it in Ivory. Dress from Forever 21. Floppy hat is from CATO Fashions. Shoes are Madden Girl.
